Scavenger Hunt

(GM's note- Jack couldn't make it to the first session)

Summary
Marpenoth 15th
The party arrives in Mulptan after travelling from the Endless Wastes. The guards are initially put off by Mirag, but when they spot Caeli with her witch mask, they quickly clear traffic for them to proceed. The party gets rooms at the Rolling Waves inn and plans their next leg. From here they will travel to the capital of Rashemen at Immilmar and take a ferry across the lake, before entering the Erech Forest. The fishing town where the ferry leaves them are unprepared for Mirag and the locals flee the dock. Once they realize the ferry crew wasn't eaten, they filter back in. The town only has one inn and Mirag is stuck in the stables again.

Marpenoth 20th
The adventurers leave town and head into the forest, which is thick and hilly, and the weather is cold and rainy, with even a little early snow. Climbing over a stony hill, ghost wizards, remains of the evil durthan who lived here, drift out of the trees to attack. Caeli, Andre, and Kiri are surprised, Thorn, Risa, and Mirag attack the ghosts. Thorn attacks a ghost with his scimitar, Risa with her staff, and Mirag casts Flame Blade. More ghosts sweep out of the woods, casting spells or attacking with their life draining touch. Another reveals its horrible face in an attempt to frighten and weaken the party. The rest of the party moves to help. Mirag, Thorn, and Risa continue their attacks. Caeli casts Synaptic Static, Andre gets into melee and destroys a ghost with a single strike (Nat 20 and Smite). Kiri turns two of the ghosts and heals Mirag who has been hit hard. Thorn destroys two ghosts, Risa gets another. Mirag finishes one and flies to use his breath weapon on another, but it does minimal damage. One of the turned ghosts flees into the night the night and Kiri smashes the last with Guiding Bolt (2nd level slot, Nat 20, double damage vs ghosts equaled 20d6 for 74 points of damage!!)

Marpenoth 22
The party continues their journey to the fey portal the nagpa described. It is a wooden sculpture of a laughing satyr's face, almost thirty feet tall. The open mouth is more than ten feet high. They have to wait until nightfall; Kiri takes the opportunity to ask for guidance with a Divination spell and is told "Accept their quest". Orac speaks up and tells them he will not reveal his presence around the hags because he doesn't want to be taken by them. He does offer some advice on spells to fight the fey with. Once the sun is down, Kiri sings the portal open. Risa steps through, followed by Caeli and the rest of the party. Kiri comes last, keeping the portal open.
Beyond the portal its daylight, the portal is on a small island in a marsh, next to a fifty foot tall crystal obelisk. They take their bearings and ride off. They head across open plains until they find a pond with dark blue water, inhabited by singing koi fish. Kiri tries to sing along but the koi are not impressed. She tries again and they sing along with her.

Marpenoth 23
Finally, they come to the hags' hut, sitting in a field near a stream. As they approach, the door flies open, and a cackling voice invites them in.
The hags look like three normal old women, one at a table, one at a spinning wheel, and the last tending a cauldron over the fire. They offer tea which the party refuses. Risa asks for an Unravelling and bargain with the hags. They don't have anything the hags want or are willing to pay. The hags agree to trade them an Unravelling if they will gather the materials. The party must swear not to reveal the materials needed. Once they are settled, one hag licks her fingertip and pokes Risa in the forehead, transferring the locations of the materials. They need a bag of golden fleece from the Sheep of Caer Bannog, three feet of fresh spider silk from the giant spider queen Lhiashu, ten unicorn mane or tail hairs, ten beard hairs from the giant Fesius, and six meenlock heads. They are given golden shears for the fleece, silk, and beard hairs. They ride out of the fields and pass a giant fallen tree trunk. Pipe music plays from an unseen source and the grass waves in time. They find the golden sheep in a meadow on the edge of a forest, apparently sleeping in the field. The forest looks odd, and they realize the trees are all exact duplicates. Risa approaches one of the sheep and a sheep nearby wakes up. It bears its FANGS, growls and charges! Other sheep begin to wake up as well.
Risa attacks the first sheep, trying to beat it into submission and stuns it. Thorn leaps from his horse, charges and does a Misty Step to get into range. Andre charges in on his warhorse. More sheep wake up, and they charge into the group around Risa and start attacking with vicious bites. One tries to bite her, and she sways back so it bites another! She knocks the first sheep unconscious. Kiri rides up on her horse and casts Confusion on three of the sheep. Mirag flies forward to help. Caeli casts Detect Thoughts to get an impression of the creatures; they are ferocious pack carnivores.
(Second session)
More sheep rush to attack, surrounding the party. Risa, Thorn, and Andre wade into them, Andre delivers blows with his massive fists. Lacking a non-lethal attack, Caeli begins peppering the sheep with Magic Missile, wounding sheep so they can be knocked out easier. Mirag tries to cast Animal Friendship, but it fails. Kiri casts Compulsion and causes several sheep to flee. She concentrates on the spell, and the affected sheep flee the meadow. The warriors knock out more sheep, Kiri and Mirag heal Thorn and Risa. Mirag grabs a pair of stunned sheep and fly back behind the battle. Once the fighting sheep are all down, Risa begins shearing two sheep while the rest guard here. She gets enough to fill the bag and a little extra. The party mounts up and rides away. They find a patch of giant mushrooms the size of houses and take a rest to recover from the battle, setting watches. Bats fly over the mushrooms.

Marpenoth 24
After a decent rest, the party moves on. The ground to their right rises and becomes a cliff of grey slate stone. Along the way, they find an overhang sheltering a small hut made of bones. A bat colony nests in cracks above the overhang and watches them pass by. As they travel, they spot random bits of spider silk, they increase in number until the party comes to a very large cave. The cave is completely covered in webbing, so it looks like a giant funnel. Clicking and rasping noises come from within. The party moves into the dark and unpleasant cave. Most of the webbing is dried out and is not sticky.
Once they are away from the lit opening, giant spiders start coming out of the multiple cave passages. The party attacks with spells and weapons, knowing these are "baby" spiders and they can kill them in self-defense. Mirag wildshapes into a spider and climbs up to the cave ceiling and starts to explore. Kiri casts Bless while Risa uses her Cloak of Flying to fly up to spiders and make attacks. Thorn begins killing spiders with arrows, Andre wades in with his axe and Caeli lets fly with Lightning Bolt and Chromatic Orb. Kiri summons a Spiritual Weapon. Pushing past the dead spiders, Risa and Andre spots some fresh silk from the queen and Risa cuts six feet of it. Mirag continues moving into the cave and meets the spider queen coming up the cave! She is over thirty feet long with a at least a sixty foot leg span. Mirag flees in spider form and she pursues. The rest of the party flees at the sight of the queen. Mirag drops his spider form to fly out the cave, but she almost catches him (GM's note- She just barely got into attack range at the cave mouth, but I got a botch on her to hit roll). The party mounts their panicking horses and rides away as fast as they can.
They find another forest, more gentle and pleasant, and find three unicorns grazing in a forest meadow. Not sure how to approach them and without a way to communicate, Andre sends his celestial steed forward to talk to the unicorns. They eventually negotiate a deal with the steed relaying messages to Andre. The unicorns allow Thorn, Risa, Kiri, and Caeli to groom them in exchange for keeping some of their hairs. Risa grabs extra hairs again.
The adventurers' next goal is the giant Fesius. They travel away from the forest and move into an area of gently rolling hills and grassland. They stop again for a rest. They move forward again, looking for the giant whenever they crest a hill. Eventually they spot a hill that doesn't look right, it's the giant and he is massive! Not an ordinary giant, he is over one hundred feet tall and wears a crude kilt of mammoth hides. He is asleep. Ria uses her flying cloak again and collects some of his beard hairs. He rolls over and brushes at his face with a hand the size of wagon, then goes back to sleep. They head away, looking for the meenlocks' lair.

Marpenoth 25?
After a rest, the party leaves the area of dry hills and moves back into woods and meadows. They pass a strange forest clearing covered in a grey fungus, wisely they decide not to touch it. Further on they travel past a river of sickly grey slime and see a pile of chattering human skulls. They find the meenlock's lair area, a set of ruins. Mirag uses Mold Earth to dig holes looking for their caves and punches down into them. The tunnels are very tight, so Andre stays above to watch their backs and the horses. Mirag wildshapes into a squirrel to follow them. Moving into the tunnels, meenlocks come out of the darkness to attack them, radiating fear. Thorn and Risa slay two, but another claws Thorn and paralyzes him. Risa, Caeli and Kiri meet more meenlocks with blows and spells. Squirell Mirag attacks the meenlocks, distracting them. Thorn recovers from paralysis and starts chopping heads from the dead. Risa kills three more, Kiri kills two with spells and Caeli kills the last with a Chromatic Orb. They take the rest of the meenlock heads and head back to the hags. At the hags' cottage, they turn over the materials they have gathered. The hags examine them and give their approval. Ria offers them the extra materials they gathered, and the hags take that as well. The hags pull the meenlock heads out and crack the skulls open and start eating the brains. The lead hag gives Risa the Unravelling, a square of dirty grey woolen cloth with a loose thread hanging off. Press the cloth to the person or object affected by the spell to be removed and pull the loose thread to activate it. Since the party gave them extra materials, the hag waves their hand at the party and they and their mounts are teleported back to the portal island. They pass through the portal and realize it is colder, but still autumn, have they lost time? Risa is holding the Unravelling, and they realize they don't remember what they did! They remember bargaining with the hags, then getting the Unravelling but nothing of what they did in between.

Uktar 26th
The party stops at a small town and discovers it is a month later! Their four days in the Feywild were actually four weeks in real time.
