Mindua

On the face of it, the Mindua system is one of the most boring ever. A bright A5V star sheds its glare on five barren rocky worlds and an asteroid belt. But the system has the largest mining deposits in the sector. Mining rights were sold off to several companies, but many think that some of them are shell companies fronting for other mining companies, leading to a virtual monopoly. Most of those companies are based in the nearby Tati system. With no habitable worlds in system, miners do long tours before being rotated back to Hava, a corporate owned farming world which has a much more pleasant environment.
Most of the miners in the Mindua system are corporate employees, but there are some independent prospectors. But the licensing and fees the independents pay to the companies make them practically employees and the companies control the payments for new claims. But some people prefer working in a system with a massive infrastructure to call upon in times of trouble.
