So, I have updated Future Serenity with new ideas. You can post comments here or there. I don't think the Alliance campaign would work out based on our Cargo of Misery delve.

Shoulder ammo bags for $8.99
http://www.armysurplusworld.com/product.asp?ProductID=1131

Shoulder medic bag for $12.50, but I think Emily may have a suitable bag already
http://www.armysurplusworld.com/product.asp?ProductID=7075

Another bag for $16.95
http://www.armysurplusworld.com/product.asp?ProductID=36173

I was also thinking about a canteen and pouch on the belt (Woodchuck, anyone?)

I suppose if Raleigh or someone else wanted to pose as one of the pilots attached to the 42nd (like Sata), we could modify the costume:

Tan pants with brown stripe or BDU pants
Black flight jacket with standard Independents' patch on one shoulder and the 42nd's modified patch on the other
Collared shirt with officer insignia and aviator wings
Shoes or boots
Sidearm and holster. Maybe my modified Nerf pistol could be used as a laser pistol.

So for the Zombie Disposal Unit (ZDU) we had some basic ideas:

Orange jumpsuit (http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/products_details.asp?SKU=RKCT10OR&ST=2&MNS%20LS%20ORANGE%20ACTION%20BACK%20COVERALL) $37
Gasmask about $30
Boots
Gloves
Tools & weapons

Stencil or use iron on letters for "Zombie Disposal Unit" on the back

Raleigh suggested an email list, but I had a better idea, we'll use the forum! It's here and already set up and it will encourage people to visit the wiki (hint, hint).

So, our current idea is to do a group costume of a squad of Browncoats from the 42nd Overlanders Forward Medical Hospital. Emily is thinking about a medic, I believe. The rest of us would probably be soldiers of various ranks. We are thinking of doing real Browncoats, not the tan coats the soldiers in the flashbacks have and the 76th Battalion (http://76thbattalion.dragonfyredawn.com/uniform.html) wear. We are not trying to mimic them directly, but do something similar, unique enough to set us apart but still obviously be Firefly outfits. So, we need:

A Browncoat duster (http://www.spurwesternwear.com/p-1193-rangewear-by-scully-walnut-canvas-duster.aspx) $80
Tan pants that Emily will see about adding stripes to (http://www.wwmerc.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=CM83&type=store&category=3930) $40
Independent official patch (http://www.westerfieldstudios.com/noname127.html) $7
Boots
Suspenders (varies, $12-15)
Weapon and possibly holster
Web belt, ammo pouch?
Helmet or hat (maybe)
42nd custom patch
rank insignia, either pins or sewn on.
Shirt
So we're looking at around $150 for coat, pants, suspenders, rank and 1 patch. Plus boots, shirt, weapon, second patch, extra gear.

Now, I'm not saying we have to use THIS coat. But it is the cheapest I've found that is a decent dark color. I'm not wild about the style, but it is a BROWNcoat. If someone can do better, please do. Another concern is headgear. The 76th wear old military steel pot helmets, which are A, heavy and B, expensive, $40 and up. Mal and Zoe never wear helmets in any flashback, so we could skip them. Or, we could get plastic helmet liners (http://www.joesarmynavyonline.com/servlet/Detail?no=7082) for about $12 and paint them.

Emily was over last night and we watched some old Deadliest Catch episodes and discussed a merchant style Serenity campaign with rivalries between ships and crews of rough men one breakdown away from death or jail. Maybe competing salvage teams and such.

Okay, the new wiki is called Jim's Gaming Page, partly out of lack of originality and partly because these are the games I'm running as gamemaster. Also, it was late and I was tired, so when I decided to do it, it was sort of a last minute "I need to call it something" decision. If someone comes up with a better, generic name, I'm interested.

But, I know that my players are important to the wiki too, with your ideas and your character descriptions. I have a short gaming biographical bit about me, but I feel since this is your wiki too, that maybe all of you should do a little bit about yourselves, too. What do you think, should we put up a Players section on the Welcome page for each of you?

Kate will be bringing a druid instead of a ranger, but a totemic druid with a spirit animal companion, sort of like Joe's wilderness fighter.

I don't think I'm going to mess with the simplicity of the setting much. The characters will be from a small to medium country, so the overall world will not be disrupted. But, the players and their characters will have a goal to work towards from the very beginning.

This is not the definite theme for the next campaign, but it is the most developed one at this point.

Maybe. But, how often do our games run along the rails anyway?….

I like the simplicity of the setting Jim. Taking this one off the rails a bit?

I like all those ideas Jim. Personal favorite combination would be the Alliance Campaign mixed with Earth That Was. It'd be interesting to see what kind of course they take. Could be a lot of espionage. Double dealing and whatnot.

Matt, Konrad, Mike and Christopher are in. Matt and Konrad are playing brothers; Matt will be a Duellist, Konrad a Cleric. Mike is planning an Adept (psionicist) and Christopher a Mage. We have a new possible player Kate, who may play a Ranger.

Yes, I'm already thinking about this. Actually, I think I have been doodling notes since the fall, once I started thinking about the end of the campaign. See my ideas under Serenity 2

The idea I have for the next AD&D campaign is for the player characters to be a group of refugees, driven from their home country by an foreign invasion. The campaign would be based on the idea of the characters adventuring in foreign lands to gain experience and resources (level up, in other words) and return to free their home land.
